#28 - 21 (The Bronze Films)

#28: Lightyear (2022)

Buzz Lightyear, played by Chris Evans
I bought you 5 minutes - Sox (Lightyear)

While I don't dislike any Pixar film, Lightyear may be the closest to an exception. I honestly didn't really find the movie all that interesting, which is a real shame, since it had some good potential; an origin story about Buzz Lightyear sounds good on paper, but they honestly executed it rather poorly. The characters weren't all that interesting, maybe except for Sox the cat, he was actually kind of funny. The animation is great, but it's easily outmatched by other Pixar flicks. For these reasons, I have to give Lightyear the bottom spot.

#27: Brave (2012)

Princess Merida preparing to battle the film's main villain, Mor'du
I'll be shooting for my own hand! - Princess Merida

A Pixar princess movie sounds good on paper, but Brave is definitely one of Pixar's weaker films. The story isn't all that interesting, the characters, while more memorable than Lightyear's, aren't the most fleshed-out, and the animation is definitely weaker than most Pixar movies. One thing I do like about Brave is how dark the film can be at times; Mor'du is one of Pixar's most terrifying villains; complete with his design, not to mention his brutal body count. So while Brave is one of Pixar's lesser known movies, it still has its bright spots.

#26: Cars 2 (2011)

Mater, Finn McMissile, & Lightning McQueen on a high speed pursuit in England
Like a good neighbor, Mater is there! - Tow Mater

Now this is the Pixar film that everyone considers to be the worst. It even got the lowest score on Rotten Tomatoes, at 39%, making it the only film in the company's history to recieve a "Rotten" score. Is the film deserving of this poor rating?: Not entirely. Sure, the film has its flaws, but I honestly really liked the action sequences present in the climax. The reason why its still so low for me on this ranking is that it doesn't make any sense in the timeline whatsoever. We went from a racing film, to a spy parody, to a continuation of the first film? Honestly, Cars 2 should have been called "Mater: National Spy", and Cars 3 should have been Cars 2. But as of now, I don't hate this movie like everyone else does, I just can't put it higher.

#25: Incredibles 2 (2018)

The Parr family being caught by police
You have POWERS!! Yeah, baby!" - Mr. Incredible

Incredibles 2 was hyped up for a very long time prior to its release; everyone loved the 1st one so much, they wanted a sequel. A little lesson to be learned from this: be careful what you wish for! Am I saying this movie is bad? Absolutely not, its actually pretty good, but it's NOWHERE near as good as its predecessor. The animation was definitely an improvement over the first one, and it was pretty cool to see Mr. Incredible take on the family role this time. However, the Screenslaver was a far inferior villain to the amazing Syndrome, one of Pixar's best baddies, and the story dragged on for a while. But overall, this movie is pretty good, just far from the best.

#24: Toy Story 4 (2019)

Woody & Buzz tripping over each other
Who needs a kid's room when you can have all of this? - Bo Peep

Another film people seem to hate on a lot, simply for the fact that it 'exists'. While I do feel that a fourth Toy Story film was pretty unnecessary, it certainly wasn't a bad movie, it was actually really good. The rest of these films onward I think are really good (not sure if you can tell, but I'm a huge Pixar fan). Toy Story 4 is still the weakest of the franchise in my opinion; many of the familiar characters we've grown to love are pushed to the side to make way for plenty of new faces. That leads to one of the positives of this movie, the new characters. Forky is absolutely hilarious, all thanks to Tony Hale's amazing performance, and Duke Kaboom voiced by Keanu Reaves is another high point in the movie's ensemble. But the best characters in the whole movie are voiced by Key & Peele themselves; Bunny & Ducky. These two stole the show for me; I remember when I was in the theatre with my family, during the "Plush Rush" scene, we were dying with laughter. So while this movie has it's low points, I definitely don't think Toy Story 4 deserves all the hate it gets.

#23: Elemental (2023)

The film's match made in heaven; Ember & Wade
I can't exist in a world without you. - Ember Lumen

One of Pixar's newest films, Elemental definitely doesn't have the strongest story, but it does have quite a few things going for it. for one, the animation is absolutely breathtaking. In my opinion, Elemental might be Pixar's most gorgeous film visually. The characters are also quite memorable; especially Ember & Wade, they have some amazing chemistry with one another. The message about love is beautiful, but I feel that there are other Pixar films that use this subject more effectively. As of right now, Elemental is an absolute masterpiece visually, but lacking in the story department. Having awesome animation can only get you so far.

#22: The Good Dinosaur (2015)

Arlo & Spot, the lovable main duo of the movie
You're me & more. - Poppa Henry

Considered by people to be Pixar's most forgettable movie, the Good Dinosaur is honestly underrated in my opinion. The animation is absolutely gorgeous, and the relationship between Apatosaurus Arlo and cave-boy Spot is just so wholesome. Many people criticize the movie for having a dull and boring plot, but I find the plot to be very cute and sweet; the moment where Arlo explains death to Spot is especially heartbreaking, especially when Spot understands. Overall, the Good Dinosaur, while not groundbreaking, is still a film I would give a chance.

#21: Cars 3 (2017)

Lightning McQueen and his trainer, Cruz Ramirez
Don't fear failure! Be afraid of not having the chance; you have the chance!- Sally Carrera

Now THIS is how you make a Cars sequel! Again, Cars 2 wasn't a bad movie by any means, but this should have been the sequel all along! This 3rd installment returns to having Lightning McQueen as the lead, now on the verge of retirement. For people who grew up with the Cars franchise, this movie can be kind of sad, especially during the scenes with the late Doc Hudson, voiced by the legendary Paul Newman (R.I.P.).The new characters are also amazing; Cruz Ramirez is probably my favorite of the bunch, I absolutely love her enthusiasm and positivity. Putting this movie below the top 20 hurt; this movie is great! The movies from here on out are at the least, great. Cars 3 is and always will be the true Cars sequel to me.
