Just keep swimming! - Dory
Well, this is it. We have finally reached the top spot on this list. And that top honor has to go to 2003's Finding Nemo. Not only is Finding Nemo my favorite Pixar movie, not only is it my favorite animated movie, but it's also my absolute favorite movie of ALL TIME. I loved this movie ever since I was a little boy; I would watch it on DVD non-stop, every single day, and I would never get tired of it. Whenever I think of clownfish, I think of Finding Nemo. Whenever I think of Sydney, Australia, I think of Finding Nemo. Whenever I think of practically anything underwater related, I always think of Finding Nemo; that's how much I adore this movie. I have countless plush from the movie, I own some Finding Nemo wall decorations, I even have an art project in my house based on the movie. I'd go as far as to say that I am the world's biggest Nemo fan. That's probably a bit of a stretch, but you probably get the idea. Enough about nostalgic attachment, let's talk about the movie itself. This movie is a full-blown work of art in everything that it does. All the characters are incredible, and all of them are memorable in their own ways, and this movie also introduced me to my favorite Pixar character, Dory. She is an excellent role model for people with disabilities. As a matter of fact, this whole movie does an excellent job with tackling disabilities; from Nemo's 'lucky' fin, to Dory's short-term memory loss, this movie tackles all kinds of difficulties in such a funny, yet respectful manner. Originally, I loved this movie simply for the fact it was about talking fish; but now, I love this movie even more for its message about parenting and learning to let go. I feel like many people don't give Marlin enough credit as a father; he may have been overprotective of Nemo at first, but he braves the entire ocean just to save his only son; it really goes to show how much he loves and cares for Nemo. It's also satisfying to see Marlin grow from being a helicopter parent to a still-protective, yet not over-bearing father, and I love & respect him for that. I could go on for hours and hours about how much I love this film, but overall, I absolutely adore this movie to the end of this world, and I couldn't be more thankful that I watched this movie as a kid. Not only did I love it from the very beginning, this movie practically changed my life in the best way possible, further expanding my interest in not just Pixar, but animated movies in general. In fact, I wouldn't have chosen to be a graphic design major if I hadn't seen this masterpiece. So for that, I need to say this before I conclude this list; thank you Finding Nemo...thank you for everything...
